Today’s awesome example of GOP blockading

38 GOP senators vote to filibuster a bill that helps jobs AND reduces the deficit.

There comes a point when you wonder what the fuck the GOP wants in legislation. Good for jobs, reduces food stamp funding, lowers the deficit.

My guess? They don’t like that it closes the corporate tax loopholes (as TP notes).

I think it's pretty clear what the GOP wants… Obama out of office and the Dems to look bad – at ANY and ALL cost to the country.

And it's so amazingly shortsighted. At this rate, come 2010, they won't even have any accomplishments THEMSELVES to point to. They've put all of their chips into simply "stopping the liberal takeover".

Frankly, what would look GOOD for the GOP would be if they fought incredibly hard to have some legislation turned into a right-wing friendly bill and then had that passed, not simply blocking anything and everything with a whiff of Dem on it, you know?

Not that I want to give the Republicans any ideas…
