I know it’s fashionable to beat around the new health care bill since it’s got quite a few giveaways to the insurance industry, but it’s the bill on our plate so let’s take a look at it. The Congressional Budget Office decided to poke through and score the thing, and you know what? It’s not really that bad.
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the Senate health care bill would cost $849 billion over 10 years, according to a senior Democratic source and an administration official.
The CBO projects the measure would reduce deficit by $127 billion and insure an additional 31 million Americans, according to the sources.
Ninety-four percent of Americans would be covered under the bill, the sources noted.
Saves money, covers lots of Americans. And yet, somehow the Democrats are having a hard time putting together enough votes to avoid a filibuster, even with all the giveaways to the insurance companies. Welcome to our “representative government.”
