Still more dumbassery, WND and “Nazi godlessness”

Absolute fail. And it just keeps rolling in. I’m starting to think I could convert the Razor into nothing but a repository for idiocy coming from the right during the Obama years. Sorta like Media Matters but not focusing on “slant” so much as pure crazy babble, plus a lot more vulgarity.

So this WorldNetDaily writer decided to just eschew the more respectable veneer that most conservative loonies wrap their rants in, and flew headlong into the Batshit Crazy Lake. The premise: Democrats are godless Nazis.

It is appalling to watch the recklessness with which our government handles taxpayers’ money. The legislation for the economic stimulus program of $797 billion comprised more than 1,000 pages. Nobody who voted for this in Congress or signed it in the White House can possibly have read it all and known the implications. The same people or kind of people who created the mess we are in now are creating an even worse scenario. There is no real control. Functionaries of doubtful moral quality, along with some bankers, can play around with other people’s money as well as with the fate of every citizen and the future of this nation.

Lenin and Hitler used the national and economic disasters in their countries to ride to political victory. Conquest in a time of disaster! I believe the United States is in the midst of a similar development, spearheaded by Barrack Hussein Obama.

Quick.

President using a national disaster to shove through legislation that came straight from his party’s base that Congress didn’t have a chance to read and probably contains far-reaching power grabs that will lead to disaster down the road.

Yes, this article clearly can only be referring to Barack Obama.

The bulk of the rest of the article yammers about abortion, re-hashing the old bullshit rumors about Obama shooting down legislation that would protect babies that survived abortions (false), claiming he’s not a US citizen (false), and completely misconstruing his rollback of the arcane Bush executive order allowing doctors to refuse medical treatment and procedures based on religious objections.

We then move on to this, which is a blatant lie:

This would be another example of Nazi ideology here in America. The bill, approved by the House, 321-105, would forbid any participant engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization. That means no church attendance or witnessing.

Von Campe’s phrasing makes it sound like anyone involved in the program (which would be everyone) is prohibited from doing anything religious. Obviously, this would translate to an instant mandatory six month ban from religious worship. Which is hilarious because that would be so blatantly unconstitutional there’s no way anyone could let it pass. You can read the bill, in its entirety, right here. The sections Von Campe refers to are in there, but are phrased very specifically:

(a) Prohibited Activities- An approved national service position under this subtitle may not be used for the following activities:

3) COMPLIANCE WITH INELIGIBLE SERVICE CATEGORIES- Service carried out by a volunteer receiving funds under this section may not provide a direct benefit to any–

What the bill actually states is that anyone participating in the program can’t use their position to push religion on anyone or proselytize in the course of their duties. It absolutely, emphatically, does not prevent members from doing whatever the heck they want in their personal time. There is no way to construe its wording as to suggest that it prohibits church service; the bullet point refers soley to instruction and operation. Period. Not church attendance.

Von Campe is engaging in blatant misinformation in order to paint not only Barack Obama but the Democratic Congress entirely as “godless Nazis”. The funny thing? He’s twisting reality in order to whip up nationalism and create fear of internal sabotage caused by a godless sect of our own citizenry. Sounds to me like there really are some Nazi overtones creeping into the political sphere, but they aren’t coming from the White House.
