McCain’s Muddled Messages

I’m sure that most people reading this site are tired of McCain post after McCain post, but one reason I write so many is in the hopes that it’ll help you when talking to undecided voters, or even decided voters that are on the wrong side of the fence.

In a late-night review of what’s been happening, I came across a chunk of stupid that made me realize that John McCain may honestly not have a clue what’s going on around him, and his campaign team isn’t doing much better. Many politicians will speak on the stump and, say, gloss over their own shortfalls when discussing the opponent’s, but we’re drifting into scary territory here.

First up, McCain and energy. He joined the circus of Congressional republicans in hollering at the Democrats for “not doing their job” and yelled at them to “go back to work!” Thomas Friedman explains why this is a little foolish.

Senator McCain did not show up for the crucial vote on July 30, and the renewable energy bill was defeated for the eighth time. In fact, John McCain has a perfect record on this renewable energy legislation. He has missed all eight votes over the last year — which effectively counts as a no vote each time. Once, he was even in the Senate and wouldn’t leave his office to vote.

Okay, we got that? For all of McCain’s shouting that he’s great for energy and Congress needs to get to work helping America become energy independent, he has quite literally done nothing. In fact, he’s done worse than nothing; his actions ended up working against the efforts. Obama’s isn’t perfect either, but zero for eight? And he has the audacity to tell Congress to get to work?
