I think I have a solution for immigration that even conservatives will love…

You know, it seems like one of the biggest complaints that people have with immigration is that the illegals are taking advantage of all of the perks of being an American on the taxpayers’ backs. They get jobs with medical insurance without paying taxes. They go to public schools. They don’t pay for social security or anything else. The phrase “free ride” gets thrown around a lot. Well don’t worry folks, I have the solution.

Ready? Here it is… remove every “free ride” institution.

That’s right, get rid of it all. First of all, there’s nothing that people hate more than socialized institutions. If you don’t believe that, look at the massive effort to stop universal medical care. And it’s a fair point. After all, in SiCKO we see Michael Moore taking people to other countries and getting free medical care. Obviously someone’s paying for these services. Namely, the taxpayers of the country whose system is being exploited. So clearly anything socialized needs to go.

Specifically, public schools and social security. Both of these are taxpayer-funded. The big complaints I hear are that schools are getting inundated with students who don’t speak English and that they’re getting in for free. The solution here is pretty simple. No more public schools on the backs of taxpayers. Sean Hannity and the boys make no bones about the fact that public schools are a bad idea, so let’s go with vouchers. Everyone with a social security number and a job gets a voucher, payments for which are docked out of their pay.

Sorry folks, no vouchers for unemployed families. This should help get those non-working deadbeats motivated to enter the workforce.

As for social security, that’s just gone. An obvious problem would be that with all these illegals coming in is that they remove people from the work force who would be otherwise paying money into the social security trust fund. So a generation down the road there won’t be any money there at all. Besides, who’s taking the money now? That’s right, the people who aren’t working thanks to said illegals, which only further drains the funds. So we might as well just scrap the system entirely. That way the illegals aren’t robbing anyone from retiring comfortably.

Medical care also needs to go back to just paying for yourself up front when needed. Illegals on welfare are going to hospitals and getting treatments that they aren’t paying for in any way shape or form while Americans are footing the bill. They get treated, Americans pay the bill, and hospitals end up closing.

In fact, we should just scrap taxing in general. Anything that is normally funded by taxpayers should be privatized in any way possible. Any services that illegals could benefit from, be it libraries, police, firefighters, whatever. A complete dismantling of the socializing of America. Everyone goes back to taking care of themselves. Taxes are an indication that we’re moving towards communism and besides, if no one’s paying taxes, then it’s not a problem that the illegals aren’t paying them either. Moreover, there aren’t any taxpayer-funded services for the illegals to take advantage of.

I think that’s just about perfect. Everything goes private, everything paid by individuals. Then we can open up our borders and let the illegals flood in. After all, they can’t exploit the system because there’s no system to exploit.

Of course, we could always just clamp down on the borders now and grant one-time amnesty to the illegals so they start paying back-taxes and focus ourselves mainly with stopping future border-hopping, but that’s just crazy talk.

GOP Senator calls for withdrawal

While it’s not monumental in any legal and binding type of way, the fact that Sen Richard Lugar is calling Bush out, criticizing the surge, and advocating withdrawal should indicate this is a bit of a turning point.

“In my judgment, the costs and risks of continuing down the current path outweigh the potential benefits that might be achieved,” Lugar, R-Ind., said in a Senate floor speech. “Persisting indefinitely with the surge strategy will delay policy adjustments that have a better chance of protecting our vital interests over the long term.”

Only a few Republicans have broken ranks and called for a change in course or embraced Democratic proposals ordering troops home by a certain date. As the top Republican and former chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Lugar’s critique could provide political cover for more Republicans wanting to challenge Bush on the war.

So far so good. That’s what we need, a GOP bulldog who’ll start pushing for progress. Hold the phone, though:

However, Fisher said the speech does not mean Lugar would switch his vote on the war or embrace Democratic measures setting a deadline for troop withdrawals.

In January, Lugar voted against a resolution opposing the troop buildup, contending that the nonbinding measure would have no practical effect. In spring, he voted against a Democratic bill that would have triggered troop withdrawals by Oct. 1 with the goal of completing the pull out in six months.

Once again, a harsh critic of the war isn’t willing to do anything to actually bring the change about. Nonbinding measures, Senators who speak harshly about the surge but vote against anything that could make a difference? What the hell is wrong with people?
