Condi Rice subpoenaed.

by Hanlon on April 25, 2007 at 10:58 pm

Here’s a bombshell for you. It seems the high level investigations within the Bush administration aren’t poised to end any time soon. Now the lens focuses on Condoleeza Rice, asking about her involvement with the 2003 uranium in Niger claims.

Since taking over as chairman of the House investigative committee, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-California, renewed his call to investigate what Rice knew about the Niger uranium claim.

He has said Rice has failed to adequately answer his questions in a series of letters he has sent the secretary.

In one letter, Waxman called on Rice to outline who at the White House “kept resuscitating” the disputed report after the CIA blocked its inclusion in an October 2002 Bush speech on Iraq.

You’ll recall that Rice some time ago Rice said that someone “deep in the bowels” may have known about the problems concerning the Niger claims. I’d be curious as to how all that worked. Here’s a fun little bit, though:

Deputy State Department spokesman Tom Casey said Wednesday that the department “will be consulting with the White House on this matter.”

Casey also noted Rice has addressed “this four-year-old issue on many occasions, and the subject already has been exhaustively investigated.”

And even though Rice can legitimately be called upon to testify about the State Department, her testimony may be restricted by White House regulations, a State Department official said Wednesday.

The official said the White House will not allow current or former staff to testify about internal White House matters, and has categorized Niger uranium claim as an internal issue.

Of course. Everything that we don’t want to talk about? Well that’s an internal affair so no one can testify about it. Between this and the potential “interview while not under oath off the record behind closed doors with no followup” that they offered, it’s really a wonder if there has been such a vehemently secretive administration in recent memory, or if we’ll see another in our lives. Honestly, at this point it’s not even like a right/left issue.

I think it’s truly just begining.

And the beauty is there is really no stopping it now
that Dems have a solid majority in the House.

We really need to get all the crime on the books
for history’s sake. I don’t want Bush to be able to
run away to his private library and hire private
historians to rewrite history that is favorable to him.
Thus the importance of having official, Congressional
records that future historians can research and say
“wait a second, Bush really was the worst President
ever even though Bush’s Library says he was the
greatest President ever…”

LBJ and Abe killed more people than Bush did
so let’s not compare.

Thanxx to audio/video archives we know many of the lies
Condi et.al. have told; all of these indivs. need to be held accountable
but these corporate media we have will not do it.

Bush’s “Mushroom Cloud” speech should have been enough to
bring all these people down but that’s not the way things work.

You have to ‘Anna Nicole’ something to get results;
anything less is same as nothing.

Actually, what Rice has done, and this is the masterful part, is to have carefully baited Waxman into actually subpoening her. In so doing, she removed the veneer of “Congressional Oversight”, which Waxman was never interested in, and exposed Waxman’s show trial for what it is, a partisan political investigation.

If you have been following this closely, you’ll notice that Rice rather carefully never gave Waxman’s people enough to satisfy their Moonbat supporters. Waxman always wanted the Moscow Show Trial. You people are clueless if you believe that this is about some “search for the truth”. It’s not. It’s about campaign fundraising for the DCCC. You’ll see this when you see Henry’s face plastered on a letter from Howard Dean. But you’re activists, so you’re suckers for the bullshit. I’ve been in politics long enough to know that people like you are easy marks for money. Anyway, Rice always understood that Waxman needed a Show for his followers, so she humiliated him in front of his liberal colleagues by ignoring his Demand Letters and, in general, treating him like some small time probate attorney from Encino.

No one does that to Henry Waxman!

Now that she’s wounded his pride, she’s compounded the offense by throwing the subpeona back in his face. This will make the Kos Kidz and assorted other Brownshirts boil in rage. Which is what she wanted. The Democrats will overreach.

You will notice that nowhere in the article did Condi say that she would never appear. She will, eventually, but on her terms, and only after she’s got Waxman good and mad. Waxman is a bully who’s gotten where he is by intimidation. Condi will show you all how a bully is taken down and beaten like a rented mule.

1. No one said all this stuff is not scripted.
The Two-Party ‘One Way Army’ is rather “Plain To See.”

2. Everything goes back to Orwell and the
concept of doublethink. He did not invent
the phenom. but described it better than anyone ever did
or ever will.

3. Thus on one level, ‘Kinda-Sleazy’** and ‘Hank The Skank’ believe they are
giving us a legit. playbill, while simultaneously
knowing that it’s all a sham.

It’s nothing new but is very depressing.
