SOTU snap response
by Hanlon on January 23, 2007 at 11:10 pmFirst impressions? Well, he obviously pushed hard to play Mr Bipartisan, and truth be told if he follows through on his promises (given his SOTU record, it’s hard to tell how much he made up), then I’ll be happy.
Naturally he brought up some stalwarts, lots of terrorism fearmongering, social security, renewable energy, education. It seemed more careful this time around, and the speech, if considered all by itself, wasn’t that bad. I just don’t believe it was anything but words.
I’ll have a more detailed analysis, as well as one with Webb’s response, tomorrow.

That is pretty out of control, yes. But more than that it’s funny, not in a ha-ha way, because we seem to be taking so many cues from terrorists under this president. He frequently brings up quotes from Zarqawi, he was quoting bin Laden up until a few months ago.
If one were to judge Bush’s presidency solely by his public speeches, you’d be mighty confused.

Have you ever heard a state of the union speech where the prez quoted the enemy?
Not only that, but he quoted a DEAD enemy…nothing like grasping for the fear card…
Just doesn’t seem right, giving the enemy a pulpit like that…but then again, not surprising given many of the GOP ads that ran before the Nov 06 election.
