Video: US soldiers taunting Iraqi children with water

by Hanlon on November 21, 2006 at 10:43 pm

This video is just infuriating. Watch and see what a few of our upstanding troops are doing in Iraq with their “free time”. Afterwards, pause and reflect on the phrase “they hate us for our freedom.”

Now, as a general rule, any time something like this happens on video you can be sure of two things: this isn’t the only incident like it, and it’s probably not the worst. H/t to reader Namnori for sending it in.

That video is extremely disgusting! Things like that are mental and emotional torture. In this case, it would also qualify as child abuse.

And what’s worst is that they’re actually doing more harm to the efforts in Iraq than us awful liberals ever could. While the vast bulk of those Iraqis will never read this blog, they will quickly hear about the American soldiers who taunted children with water, making them run over a mile before throwing it on the ground.

While I don’t support the war, I am a humanitarian and I’m not cold-hearted. What does it accomplish to do something like this? Speaking from their perspective, this is what makes me mad, not hearing that some people completely uninvolved with the efforts don’t support it.
