Possible terrorist attack in Indonesia for Bush

Oh boy. I want you to read these two paragraphs concerning Bush’s upcoming visit to Indonesia and try not to get a nosebleed.

Acts of terrorism during U.S. President George W. Bush’s visit on November 20 are possible because Islamic militants remain at large, the chief of Indonesia’s intelligence agency said on Saturday.

Bush will stop in the world’s most populous Muslim country for a few hours on Monday to meet President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, a regional ally in the U.S.-led war on terrorism.

Okay, review. World’s biggest Muslim country. They can’t can’t guarantee there won’t be acts of terrorism while our president is there. They are an ally in the War on Terror(tm).

Now, here’s where our friend Mr Logic comes in. Now, I realize Indonesia is a republic, they have real elections and all of that razzmatazz. But if they have a serious problem with terrorism and they’re an ally, why isn’t our military over there? Here I thought it was the Global War on Terror.

I swear, every news story that comes out with the word “terror” in it just highlights the fact that it was all built around suckering the US populace into supporting a war in Iraq. Indonesia’s been struggling with terrorism since 2000, yet our military isn’t helping them. Tsk.
