Republican 101: blame the democrats

by Hanlon on October 3, 2006 at 2:33 pm

In times of stress, as Al Franken wrote in one of his books, people often do what comforts them. In the case of republicans, this means blaming democrats. Check out Hannity spinning away to this effect.

HANNITY: Apparently some of these instant messages are three years old. So I think we all have to have a question raised here. I want to know why these instant messages were held back until now. Who knew about them? Why did they hold them back? Did they do it for political reasons? In other words, were they held back to maximize the political impact before an election?

Okay, I’m not sure I need to explain why this is retarded, but I will anyway. In order for this to be a plausible situation, the democrats would have to have SOLE possession of these items. For THAT to happen, either the pages or Foley would have had to send the messages to democrats for some reason, neither case making a lick of sense. Or he’d have to be blaming democrats for hacking into the computers and THEN holding the emails and IMs.

Then we’ve got Hastert himself, once again blaming dem damn lie-brals.

…one that happened in 2003 we didn’t know about, but somebody had it, and, you know, they’re trying — and they drop it the last day of the session, you know, before we adjourn on an election year.

For this one, once again, refer to my above point. There is absolutely no rational way for democrats to have had their hands on these without any republicans knowing about it. More than that, I simply refer you to the very first comment:

2006 minus 3 is 2003. If some Democrats found out about these instant messages 3 years ago, which you have zero evidence for, then why weren’t they used in the 2004 Presidential elections?

What’s that sound? It’s the sound of you REEEEEEEAAAAAACHING.
